I recently spent a week at El Retiro and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional experience it provided. The lovely common area overlooking the river was a perfect spot for unwinding in the evening with affordable drinks, while a refreshing dip in the river during the day was a rejuvenating treat. The construction work on the premises was hardly noticeable, allowing for peaceful restful nights away from the street noises. The highlight for me was the fantastic tour to Semuc, which truly exceeded my expectations and was worth every penny. The presence of a security guard at night contributed to a sense of safety and security. El Retiro surpassed all my stringent criteria, offering an authentic and delightful stay—highly recommended for travelers seeking a unique and memorable experience in Guatemala.
